In this web site you will find part of the text of my master's thesis about the history of the historic preservation movement in Texas, since its origins in the late 19th Century to the present day. The original printed version is available at the library of Southwest Texas State University. Although my intention with these web pages is to make my work as available as possible, I only offer here part of some chapters. The entire text is not on-line because I want to control its circulation and avoid plagiarism (I hope you understand; I researched for a year and a half to write it!). Even so, I think there is enough information to get a good overall impression of my thesis' contents.

If you are interested in reading my entire thesis, please e-mail me and I will send you an electronic copy of the whole text. Just tell me in your message why you want to read it and if you are going to quote it somewhere.

Feel free to quote the information available here, provided that you cite this web page as a source or, if you prefer, cite the printed version like this (I followed the Turabian manual of style):

LÓPEZ-TRUJILLO, MIGUEL ÁNGEL. "A Century of Historic Preservation in Texas." Master's thesis, Southwest Texas State University, 1998.

For more information about my thesis, get in touch with my supervisor at Southwest Texas university, Dr. Jesús Francisco de la Teja.

A previous version of my thesis received the 1998 Historical Essay Award of the San Antonio Conservation Society.

This thesis is dedicated to my family and Gema.
