FOrest RESToration (FOREST)
Conservation and Restoration of Native Forests in Latin America
FOREST aims to contribute to the training and development of graduate and post-graduate students within networks of highly productive research institutions. Such training will help the students to strengthen their capacity to build relationships with partners of other countries in order to address problems related to the conservation and restoration of native forests in highly fragmented landscapes in Latin America from a multidisciplinary approach.
FOREST seeks to enhance the synergistic interactions between the research institutions involved by combining: (1) their experience in different academic areas; (2) their complementarity in the way they tackle problems related to forestry development in Latin America; (3) their varying infrastructure capacities; (4) their differing ways of interacting with the social and productive sectors; and (5) their different necessities of agreement with the levels of academic and economic development in a particular region.
