Welcome the website of the Economic History Research Group (EHRG).
The EHRG was formed in 2010 to develop the project “Financial Crises: Past, Present and Future. Spain and the International Economy. What have we learned?” The main objective of this project is to study and compare the major financial crises that occurred in Spain in the second half of the nineteenth and twentieth century, its causes, its development and its fiscal and macroeconomic consequences. Our purpose is to put the Spanish in an international context. The project is thus an exercise in comparative economic history, to learn to better understand the financial problems of the present and to be able to cope with greater confidence and effectiveness of the current financial crisis and its consequences. In the historical comparison is where lays the value and originality of the project. We are grateful to the Spanish Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación for its support through ECO2009-08791
