Scope and Background
Complex Automated Negotiations have been widely studied and have become an emerging area in the field of Autonomous Agents and Multi-Agent Systems. Complexity in automated negotiations depends on several factors: number of negotiated issues, dependency of issues, representation of utility, negotiation protocol, negotiation form (bilateral or multi-party), time constraints, etc. Complex automated negotiation scenarios are concerned with negotiation encounters where we may have for instance, a large number of agents, a large number of issues with a strong interdependency, non-monotonic utility functions, strong time constraints, etc. Many real world negotiation scenarios present one or more of the mentioned elements. Software agents can support to automate or simulate complex negotiations on the behalf of their owners, and to provide adequate strategies to their owners in order to achieve realistic and win-win agreements. To provide solutions in such complex automated negotiation scenarios, we need to incorporate different advanced Artificial Intelligence technologies including search, CSP, graphical utility models, Bayesian nets, auctions, utility graphs, optimization and predicting and learning methods. The application of complex automated negotiations could include e-commerce tools, decision-making support tools, negotiation support tools, collaboration tools, etc. We solicit papers on all aspects of such complex automated negotiations in the field of Autonomous Agents and Multi-Agent Systems, including but not limited to:
• Complex Negotiations
• High dimension Multi-Issue Negotiations
• Concurrent Negotiations
• Multiple Negotiations
• Sequential Negotiations
• Bilateral Negotiations
• Multilateral negotiation
• Negotiation and Coordination Mechanisms
• Negotiation under Asymmetric Information
• Large Scale Negotiation
• Matchmaking and Brokering Mechanisms
• Coordination for Local and Global Consistency
• 2-sided Matching
• Predicting Opponent's Behaviours in Negotiation.
• Utility models and Preference models
• Complexity aspects of Multi-issue negotiation
• Negotiation Simulation
• Applications
These issues are being explored by researchers from different communities in Autonomous Agents and Multi-Agent systems. They are, for instance, being studied in agent negotiation, multi-issue negotiations, auctions, mechanism design, electronic commerce, voting, secure protocols, matchmaking & brokering, argumentation, and co-operation mechanisms. The goal of this workshop is to bring together researchers from these communities to learn about each other's approaches, form long-term collaborations, and cross-fertilize the different areas to accelerate progress towards scaling up to larger and more realistic applications.
Automated Negotiating Agents Competition (ANAC) Special Session
From 2010, ACAN is tightly cooperating with ANAC (Automated Negotiating Agents Competition). Based on the great success of ANAC2010 and ANAC2011, ANAC2012 will be held at AAMAS2012 at Valencia. In ANAC special session, the finalists of ANAC will describe their negotiating agents.

Invited Talk
Professor Carles Sierra
Carles Sierra is Full Professor at the Institute of Research on Artificial Intelligence of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and Adjunct Professor at the University of Technology, Sydney, Australia. Recently, he has been particularly active in the area of multi-agent systems, specially on methodological aspects and on trust modelling. He has participated in around forty research projects funded by the European Commission and the Spanish Government, and has published around three hundred papers in specialised scientific journals, conferences and workshops. He is member of the program committees of around a dozen of conferences and workshops per year, and is a member of seven journal editorial boards including AIJ, JAIR and JAAMAS. He has been General Chair of the conference Autonomous Agents 2000 in Barcelona, AAMAS 2009 in Budapest, and PC chair of AAMAS 2004. He has been the local chair for IJCAI 2011 in Barcelona. http://www.iiia.csic.es/~sierra
